2005 Search for Outstanding Teachers GMA Confers Award to Metrobank Foundation’s Outstanding Teachers
The winners were chosen for their outstanding contributions to the teaching profession, personal integrity and character, instructional competence, and professional and community involvement. More than these, however, the Awardees are ordinary people and teachers who choose to remain in the teaching profession despite extraordinary circumstances. They are achievers who measure success not necessarily by their professional achievements and financial rewards but by the triumphs of their students.
The awarding ceremonies were held last September 2, 2005 at the Metrobank Plaza Auditorium, which serves as highlight of Metrobank’s 43rd anniversary celebrations. Each outstanding teacher will receive a gold medallion, trophy and a cash prize of P200,000.00.
The names of the awardees were released after the Final Board of Judges for the Search chaired by Senate Majority Leader Francis N. Pangilinan with Supreme Court Associate Justice Angelina Sandoval-Gutierrez as Vice-Chair, held a series of interviews of the finalists last July 2005.
The other members of the Final Board of Judges were Congressman Rolando G. Andaya, Jr. of the First District of Camarines Sur; Mayor Jerry P. Treñas of Iloilo City; Ambassador Peter Beckingham of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; Dr. Jose Maria A. Mariano, President of the University of Asia and the Pacific; Mr. Jarius Y. Bondoc, Columnist and Broadcaster; and Dr. Milwida M. Guevara, President of Synergeia Foundation.
